More facts have Emerged on how an ill-fated helicopter crashed into a building in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital, killing two people.
The crash, which occured in Opebi, a residential area located less than ten kilometers from the local wing of the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, also injured one person and damaged a Totota Camry car with registration number MUS 297 FT parked inside the compund.
The Salvation Bus Stop where the unfortunate incident happend is, findings by Platforms Africa showed, less that four kilometers from Alausa Ikeja, seat of Lagos State’s power.
Eyewitness accounts showed that the helicopter hovered with loud noise before the crash.
“The crash happened with a big bang which was heard in all of this area to as far as Ikeja GRA. What I saw was that around 12:09 pm, that helicopter hovered in this area before it came down on this building,” an eyewitness who identified himself as Joel Odamwu told this online newspaper.
“It fell on the building and later carved in on a car parked in the compound. For about 4 seconds, the blades of the helicopter rammed into the fence and the car and at the end of the day, two people were killed while one other person was injured ” he added while giving his account of the crash which occurred around Salvation Bus Stop.
The black box of the ill-fated aircraft has been recovered for investigation while security and emergency responders were at the crash scene as at press time.
