The fall out from governorship elections in Nigeria’s Edo State is setting the social media, particularly Twitter on fire, with users mostly Nigerians, mocking National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole and Kano state Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
The final results of the governorship election held on Saturday, September 19, are being awaited as at 11:40 am on Sunday, September 20, but the Twitter users did not wait to serve those they considered as leaders of opposition in the state the full lenght of their tongues with hashtag #EdonobeLagos trending.
From results declared so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from the local governments, incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki and PDP governorship candidate is winning with wide margin.
He is however, being trailed by the APC candidate, Pastor Ize-Iyamu, who is a major contender in the election that featured 14 governorship candidates.
A twitter handle @EmekaNwanna12 wrote; “Tinubu and Oshiomhole messed up Pastor’s chances. He would’ve performed better had it been he trusted wholeheartedly in God and distanced himself from those rogues parading themselves as godfathers. This is also an opportunity for Lagosians to take back their State in good fate.”
Another handle @AnthonyEhilebo wrote “EdoNoBeKano Ganduje needs to use the toilet as we lead by over 80,000 votes..may be Hope has a policeman that will testify to his typed results…#EdoDecides2020”
@Miss_Somoruyi added; “So Apc that didn’t pay salaries for over a year in Edo state is expecting Obaseki to lose? Obaseki paid salaries every month and even promoted local govt workers. He even cleared Oshomhole’s backlog. EPA, we dey your back!! @GovernorObaseki.”
A media aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan@renoomokri wrote; “How can you conduct election during rainy season and expect the man holding an umbrella to lose? Over to you Ondo. It is now left for you to decide if your state treasury will service Bola @Asiwaju’s treasury. Edo has spoken! EdoDecides #EdoDecides2020 #BuhariTormentor
