EKEDC MD/CEO Adeoye Fadeyibi Bags IOD’s Fellowship Award

 

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), Adeoye Fadeyibi has been conferred with a Fellowship award by the Nigerian Institute of Directors. (IOD).

Fadeyibi, a statement sent to Platforms Africa read, received the award alongside 30 other distinguished personalities during the Institute’s 2020 Fellows Investiture on Thursday, October 15, 2020.

Chairman of the Fellows and Awards Committee, Thomas C. Awagu, while giving the introductory remark at the event, noted that the theme of this year’s Investiture which is “Innovation in Crisis Environment; the Role of Directors” is very critical in the light of Covid-19 pandemic which has forced a new normal on the global institutional, organisational and business ecosystem.

He noted that while crisis can be a driver of creativity and innovation, which can lead to new opportunities and discovery, collaboration and partnership is fundamental to maximizing such opportunities.

He urged members to explore partnership and cooperation for collective benefit and socio-economic progress.

The guest speaker at the event, Kwaku Atuahena-Gima, an Adjunct Professor of Innovation at Mannheim Business School and Frankfurt School of Finance and Management (FSFM) both in Germany, on his own part described crisis as a difficult and important situation that demands strategic decision making.

He revealed that during a crisis such as Covid-19 it is important for organisations to think differently on action and opportunities.

He encouraged members to discard what he described as old rules and develop new models that can meet emerging realities and expectations.

He emphasized on the need for businesses to adopt an outcome-based innovation approach in a bid to meet new realities and challenges.

He urged the members to strive always for the highest principle of standards in professional and corporate governance.

In his reaction to the award, the MD/CEO Eko Electricity Distribution Company, Adeoye Fadeyibi said the recognition once again underscores the Company’s culture of high performance and improvement in processes, procedures and practices.
