The Police command in Osun state, Southwest Nigeria, has arrested a 19-year-old student of Oduduwa College, Ile-Ife area of the state for reportedly beating the school principal, Mr Ademola Sanusi, to coma.
The “ugly incident,” which happened on Friday February 5, an eye witness Jamiyu Ogundele, told Platforms Africa, saw the teachers who were at the scene to scamper into safety, fleeing to avoid being mercilessly beating by the notorious student and his gang.
“He is said to be the arrowhead of the evil act and he is presently being detained at the state police command, helping the police to fish out his other colleagues who fled before the arrival of the police,” Ogundele added.
Though the reason the students staged an attack on the principal is unknown, he would have been beating with teachers in the school if not that they took to their heels and left the principal in the hands of his student-attackers.
Spokesperson of the police command in the state, Mrs Yemisi Opalola who confirmed the arrest of the suspect, added that investigations are ongoing on the matter with the assurance that the perpetrators of the callous and inhuman act would not go scot-free.
Osun State Commissioner for Education, Folorunso Oladoyin also condemned the act he described as indecent and uncultured.
Oladoyin vowed that the 19-year-old culprit and his gangsters will not go unpunished
