EXCLUSIVE: Buhari Appoints Kinsman, Yar’Adua’s brother, REA’s Board Chair

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, younger brother to late Umar Musa Yar’Adua as the chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA’s) Board of Governors.

In a letter exclusively sighted by Platforms Africa, Nebeolisa Anako, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Power stated that the appointment takes effect from January 17, 2022 for a term of five years “which may be renewed for one further term of up to five years based on performance.”

Letter of Abdulaziz’s appointment as REA’s Board Chair exclusively obtained by Platforms Africa

Recall that before his appointment, Yar’adua was a Lieutenant Colonel in charge of records at the army secretary’s office at the military headquarters, Abuja. He was closest to late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua amongst the family members.

He is a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC where he had contested for the Katsina governorship position, the House of Representatives and Katsina Central Senatorial seat. On all occasions, he lost out at the party primaries.

Abdulaziz fondly called ’Abdu Soja’ was born on August 4, 1964.
