Another top Cop, ASP John Umoru, named prominent member of cartel, on the run as erstwhile Super Cop, Abba Kyari, four others spend first night in Custody
The probe of Nigeria’s erstwhile super cop, Abba Kyari, over alleged link with deadly drug cartel has taken a new twist with lives of Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officers involved in the probe and that of their families now under threat.
This came as another top Cop, ASP John Umoru, who is named a prominent member of the cartel, is on the run after being declared wanted while erstwhile Super Cop, Abba Kyari,and four others spent first night in Custody.
Platforms Africa reports that the spokesman for the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, who confirmed threats to lives of the agency’s officers involved in the probe, declared that the agency would do its best to protect its officers and men.
“I must say this publicly. We are not unaware of threats to the lives of NDLEA officers involved in this investigation, even as we continue to do our best to protect our officers and men in the line of duty,” he said in a statement obtained by this media group.

Meanwhile,,DCP Abba Kyari, and four other police officers linked to drug trafficking by the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have been arrested by the Nigerian Police and handed over to the anti-narcotic agency for tampering with illicit drugs investigations and other sundry activities considered unprofessional in the country.
Others arrested and handed over to the NDLEA were ACP Sunday Ubuah, ASP Bawa James, Inspr. Simon Agrigba and John Nuhu.
Meanwhile, ASP John Umoru has been declared wanted after he allegedly ran away.
The NDLEA has also confirmed that the five officers linked to a 25 kilograms Cocaine deal were already in its custody and that interrogations have commenced to further identify other people and law enforcement officers that may be linked to the cartel across the country
