Kwara Tops North Central Zone, Emerges 6th Best in National Maths Contest

 

The priority treatment given education in Kwara State by the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration, is steadily yielding fruit as the performance of students from schools in the state in national school competitions attest.

The latest evidence of the solid investments in qualitative manpower and welfare of employees in the education sector, came on Monday during a preliminary national mathematics competitions at the National Mathematical Centre in Abuja.

In a performance that has been hailed by teachers and policymakers who attended the event, Miss Aishah Zakariyah, a Junior Secondary School(JSS) 3 student of Shamsudeen Junior Secondary School, Ilorin East Local Government Area, emerged the best student from the North Central Zone, finishing ahead of students from the Federal Capital Territory(FCT), Abuja, Plateau, Kogi and Nasarawa states.

In addition to topping the North Central Zone, Miss Zakariyah finished in sixth place on the overall national table behind students from Imo, Rivers, Lagos, Anambra and Edo states in that order.

The performance of Miss Zakariyah in the mathematics competition, is the latest in the series of stellar performances of Kwara State students in school competitions within and outside the state.

The resurgence of education under the Governor AbdulRazaq administration has drawn applause from policy makers and public affairs commentators who have admonished other states to emulate the sound and far-reaching investments in education by Kwara State government.
