Fire Guts TCN Substation, Worsens Power Supply Shortage in Oyo

TCN confirms incident, says 150MVA 330/132kV transforler affected

 

Fire has gutted a power Substation belonging to Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in Oyo state, worsening the power supply issues in the area.

The TCN, which confirmed the incident n a statement shared by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mba, on Twitter, said that one 150MVA 330/132kV transforler was affected by the fire.

“TCN hereby note that there was a fire incident in Ayede transmission substation, Ibadan, Oyo state, at about 15:15hrs on Friday,15th April, 2022,” the tweet obtained by Platforms Africa read.

The TCN tweet

“The fire incident, which affected one number 150MVA 330/132kV power transformwr was curtailed and power supply restores to the substation at about 18:46 and subsequently to the affected areas the sane day.

“We regret any inconveniences this incident may have caused electricity consumers in the affected areas,” Ndidi Mba, GM Public Affairs, said.
