Oil mogul begins building of IT Centre, Institute of African History & Archeology; pays fees of 22 new students

Chief Executive Officer of Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited, Dr. Akintoye Akindele, has fulfilled the promise he made at the 11th Convocation of Caleb University in February by presenting a cheque of five million Naira each, totaling fifteen million Naira to the Overall Best students in female, Best Male, and Best Post Graduate categories.

How Caleb Varsity Student, John Olajide, “disappeared” from School – Mgt

A statement sent to Platforms Africa by the School’s media consltant, Wale Adekoya, showed that Apart from handing over a Cheque to cover the school fees of 22 newly matriculated students; offering automatic employment to the three best graduating students during the presentation, the Saïd Business School of the University of Oxford-trained Petrochemical Expert announced the commencement of efforts to build an Information Technology Centre, as well as an Institute of African History and Archaeology at the Imota Main Campus of Caleb University.

Dr. Akindele, a Scholar, and Philanthropist, is the Chairman & CEO of Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Ltd., an indigenous Oil company engaged primarily in the refining and trading of crude and petroleum products in Nigeria.

In his convocation lecture, ‘The Rhetoric and Reality of Youth as Game Changers, Dr. Akindele urged Nigerian students to emulate Game Changers like Jezry Ejehi Iredia of the Computer Science department who emerged Caleb University’s overall best graduating student, and by extension, the best female student, with a CGPA of 4.92; Humphrey Ifezue also of the Computer Science department who emerged the overall best male graduating student with 4.84 CGPA, as well as Mrs Olufunso Irene Fasuyi, who emerged the best graduating Post Graduate Student.

How Caleb Varsity Student, John Olajide, “disappeared” from School – Mgt

Prof. Nosa Owens Ibie, Vice-Chancellor of Caleb University, who was in attendance along with Mr. Mayokun Olumeru, the Registrar, and family members of the recipients, acknowledged the significance of Dr Akindele’s generosity to Caleb University, and his passion to ensure the fulfilment of all his promises, describing his various endowments as “ground breaking and game changing.”

Dr. Akintoye Akindele, a Chemical Engineer turned banker with over 25 years’ experince, private equity and advisory; Chairman of Platform Capital, Unicorn Group and Diatom Impact; Co-Chairman of Whitespace X and Founder of Synergy Capital Managers, holds a doctorate degree in Business Administration (Finance) from the International School of Management, and is known for his simplicity, humility, and generosity.
