APC Chieftain queries Party’s desperation to win Presidency, romance with ex-President Goodluck Jonathan
Minna, Niger: Following reactions that have trailer the ongoing rumours that some cabals in Government are rooting for former President Goodluck Jonathan, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Jonathan Vatsa has on Thursday disclosed that should he (Jonathan) accept the offer to contest the 2023 Presidential election under the ruling Party, he will quit politics.
The former Publicity secretary of the Party in Niger state on Thursday told Journalists in Minna that, “there is a complete lack of morality in Nigerian politics and I will not be part of this deceit. Posterity will not forgive some of us. This country is in dire need of a honest leader.”

Accordingly, Vatsa said “I pray it is mere rumor or fake News, but if former President Goodluck Jonathan accept to contest the forthcoming Presidential election under APC, then I will agree with a former governor who once said there is no morality in politics.
“I will not only leave the party, I will quit politics and go back to farm. We (APC) told Nigerians in 2015, that Jonathan was a devil, Jonathan was corrupt, Jonathan was incompetent to address Insecurity in the country, Jonathan is from a minority tribe, and all manner of propaganda, seven years after he is now an angel”.
Vatsa who was a former Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism in Niger state in his reaction to news of Jonathan contesting the Presidential election in 2023 under the APC, said he is aware that the ruling party is desperate not to allow the power return back to the opposition PDP in 2023 “after our seven years of disappointing performance in all aspect, the option of Jonathan should not be on our table.
“It is so painful that the ruling Party lied to Nigerians in 2015 in a desperate move to get the power at all means, including threat of violence which has today divided the country along ethnic and religious line. This country has never been so divided as it is today”.
Vatsa further attributed the current wave of killings and tension all over the country to what he called the hate campaign by the ruling party prior to the 2015 general elections, stressing that “today there is no mutual love and trust amongst the various ethnic groups in the country, and this started from 2015.
“The desperation at which we (APC) want to bring back Jonathan is a confirmation that there was nothing wrong with the Goodluck Jonathan’s government, rather some people wanted power at all cost even when they know that they are not competent and capable”.
“I have said it before and I will repeat it again that we, as a party have nothing to tell Nigerians in 2023 for them to vote for us, because we failed and have taken the country more than 20 years backwards. We must apologize to Nigerians because everything is now three times worst than we met them in 2015, and that is the truth.
“Since 2015 we endlessly blamed Jonathan and PDP for our inability to perform and fix the country; now we want to give the government back to the same man we accused of destroying this country, this is a huge joke that amount to taking Nigerians for granted”.
While speaking on the chances of Jonathan of winning the Presidential election, Vatsa said “he can not win under APC no matter the amount of rigging anybody wants to rig it.
“Nigerians can not sincerely vote for APC again no matter who is the candidate, or is it those that their relations are with Kidnappers that will vote you or those that their loved ones have been killed by Kidnappers.
“You can not rig election when the people are not with you, it is the people that help you to rig election and the people are not with us right now, except we are lying and deceiving ourselves that the people are with us”.
