AEDC Apologises, blames supply disruptions on vandalism
Major power supply disruptions have rocked Abuja, Nigeria’s administrative capital, putting the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Nigerian Army Headquarters, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Nicon Luxury Hotels and others financial and defence institutions off the grid, Platforms Africa reports.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), which confirmed this in a notice obtained by Platforms Africa, blamed the situation on the cases of serious vandalism around its network specifically in the Central Business District and around the Lifecamp Round-about Abuja,

The utility firm listed institutions and housing estates affected to also include Federal Ministry of Finance HQ, Sahad Stores, Women Development Center, Army HQ and Army Defence College, Bella View 1, 2 and 3 Estates, Police Estate and Enoch Estate.

Dear Esteemed Customers,
Please be informed that we have experienced cases of serious vandalism around our network specifically in the Central Business District and around the Lifecamp Round-about Abuja, causing power outage in these areas and environs.
For the vandalism around the Central Business District, the areas affected are:
CBN, NERC, Nicon Luxury hotels, Federal Ministry of Finance HQ, Sahad Stores, Women Development Center, Army HQ and Army Defence College
For the vandalism at the Lifecamp Round-about, the areas affected are: Bella View 1, 2 and 3 Estates, Police Estate and Enoch Estate
Our Engineers are currently at both sites working to restore normal supply soonest.
