Leo Mezie had two successful kidney transplants but died on Saturday after developing complications a week after the last surgery
Nollywood actor, Leo Mezie, has died at the age of 46, it was gathered that the thespian died on Saturday, May 14, while recovering from a kidney transplant.
Leo, who had a kidney transplant over 4 years ago, had another one last week but began to develop complications before he died.
His death was announced on Monday by his colleague, Chioma Toplis via her Instagram page, where she disclosed the actor died in a hospital in Abuja.

Sharing some of the actor’s pictures she wrote, “Actor Leo Mezie is dead. He died on Saturday in Abuja while recovering from a kidney transplant. His corpse has been moved to Umuahia his hometown. RIP Leo.”
Leo Mezie started acting in 1996, he, however, made his breakthrough in 2003, after starring in the movie, ‘Labista’.
In 2010, he got married to his heartthrob Maureen but announced in 2016 that he was battling a kidney-related disease.
His colleagues rallied around and he had a successful kidney transplant but in 2019, he relapsed and was admitted to a Lagos hospital.
He had another successful transparent a week ago but later developed complications and sadly passed away on Saturday.
