The news making the rounds that President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked Godwin Emefiele as the Governor of Central Bank (CBN) is fake, Platforms Africa reports.
Different sources at the Presidency confirmed to this reputable media group that contrary to the report published by some online media, Emefiele did not receive any letter from the office of President Muhammadu Buhari asking him to vacate his office.

He had also earlier approached a Court to get the nos to remain in office while still vying for the APC ticket.
“Please, disregard that report. It is fake. His excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, is a law abiding leader and he won’t do anything that would amount to an abuse of power.
“Be reminded that the president does not have the power to sack the CBN governor without the approval of the national assembly.
“And as we speak, no letter has been issued to CBN governor asking him to vacate office. The report was manufactured, it is fake,” one of the Aso Rock sources said.
Section eight of the CBN Act of 2007 says a CBN governor can be removed by the president “provided that the removal of the Governor shall be supported by two-thirds majority of the Senate praying that he be so removed.”
