“There is no fuel. This is beside the fact that we have not had light for the past three days”
Fuel queues have surfaced in parts of Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital, and its neighbouring Ogun state, leaving passengers stranded across the state.
A survey by Platforms Africa on Monday indicated that many filling stations have run out of stock while the few selling have long queues.
The same situation was observed in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital, Ota, and other parts of the state.

Our correspondent observed that many filling stations along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway Otedola Bridge are not dispensing.
In Ota, all the filling stations along the Sango-Oju-Oore – Iyana iyesi locked their gates against motorists.
The gates of many stations along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway were also under lock and key as at the time of filling this report.
A resident who spoke with our correspondent said the fuel scarcity has further worsened the traffic gridlock on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway following long queues at filling stations near Lagos.
“In the whole of my area around Berger, Arepo, Ibafo, there is no fuel. This is beside the fact that we have not had light for the past three days,” the resident said.
The scarcity started a few days ago but it got worse between Sunday and Monday morning, forcing motorists to spend long hours at filling stations.
The cause of the fuel shortage can not be ascertained as of press time but it was learnt that this was due to supply disruption to Independent marketers in the state.
