The Pastor of the Kogi church, Peter Adeiza, also used it as a psychiatric and rehabilitation home as many people were seen with chains on their hands and legs. Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has shut down a church, The New Jerusalem Deliverance Ministry, Okene for allegedly defrauding members by selling “bulletproof water” and running an unapproved medical facility. The facility has reportedly been in operation since 2008, with many said to have died due to unhygienic practices.
