Evans Gets 21 Years Imprisonment 6 Months After Life Sentence

An Ikeja special offences court in Lagos has sentenced Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, kidnap kingpin better known as Evans, to 21 years imprisonment. Oluwatoyin Taiwo, the presiding judge, also sentenced Victor Aduba, co-defendant, to 21 years in prison. The convicts were charged with plotting to kidnap Sylvanus Ahanonu, a businessman, on June 23, 2014, in the Amuwo Odofin neighbourhood of Lagos. The federal government says it is proposing legislation to ban the consumption of animal skin, locally known as ponmo, in the country to revive tanneries. Muhammad Yakubu, director-general, Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST), Zaria, said this in Abuja on Sunday. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have busted a major warehouse in a secluded estate in the Ikorodu area of Lagos where 1.8 tons (1,855 kilograms) of cocaine were stored.
