HOW, WHEN DOES HE READ? Amzat Semiu Biola, Overall Best Graduating Student In Crescent University History reveals secret of his 4.98 out of 5.00 CGPA, highest to have ever been scored in the school, despite being married with Wives and Children. The genius son of a farmer opens up on his beginning, family, and studies, in this exclusive interview with Team Lead, Platforms Africa, Adeola Yusuf. Excerpts;

 

Kindly, tell us about growing up

I was born in early eighties to the family of Mr and Mrs Hamza from Ede in Osun-State. Although Born at Ijebu-Ode. My father was a Farmer and my mother a trader (popularly called iya oloja) .

 

How did you feel when the news of being the 2022 valedictorian at forthcoming 14th convocation of the institution was broken to you?

When the news was broken to me. I felt elated but perplexed. Just went on prostration to Allah as a form of gratitude. Since to Him belongs all honor.

What is your final Cumulative Grade Point Average? How did you achieve that coming from the college of arts?

My CGPA is 4.98.
I achieved this firstly with the mercy of Allah and then through dedication, discipline, devotion and burning quest for knowledge.

Tell us about how your education before admission into Crescent University

I started my early education at Ile-Kewu (local arabic &islamic school) at age 5 under the tutelage of Sheikh Mahmood. And later moved to Markaz- ul-uloom under the Tutelage of Sheikh Ahmad Balogun and Sheikh Sulayman Abdur-raheem.

Allah in His mercy made me fortunate by meeting Sheikh Ibrahim Azzakawy, whom I lived with at age 11. He is indeed my mentor and Coach. ( May Allah rewards them all abundantly). I attended Ansar-ud-deen primary school( 1989). and secondary school( 1995) both in Ijebu-Ode respectively. I was selected as the head prefect for my set. ( 2000/2001).
currently a teacher, exorcist and a family counsellor.

What is your marital status?

I am married with wives and children.

How and when do you read or study?

Mostly I studied during the night between 3-4am daily.
I tried to cover what I learnt the previous day. I also use my school holiday to cover up for the next semester’s course outline.

Like how many hours per day?

An hour at night daily and mostly at free time during the day.

Which were your toughest course and semester?

A:ISS 499. Long essay/ Project. 400Level, second semester.

The Proprietor, His Excellency Prince Bola Ajibola had a vision for founding Crescent University. How do you describe his vision of academic and moral excellence?

The popular misconception is that private universities are only concerned with making money and with enough money you could buy your way. The story at Crescent University is different. The institution has an oustanding blend of both academic and moral excellence.

What has Crescent University added to you during the course of your studentship?

Passing through a university is not just to be tutored within the four walls of the university. I have been refined, remodelled and rebranded for the future challenges during the course of my studenship.

Time is of essence.
Utilising once time judiciously well is a vital key to academic excellence.

Your parting shot 

Education is at the
heart of any human development and civilisation. Unfortunately, this sector is suffering from various set backs ranging from poor infrastructure, facilities, renumeration and man power.
Government at all levels, need as a matter of urgent to review the educational sector of our dear nation by investing in adequate funding of this sector as a tool for socio-economic and moral growth and development for the citizens especially the youths.
