PDP Presidential candidate meets IBB, Vows to end rift with G-5 Govs soon
MINNA: Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has finally broken his silence over the attack on his convoy in Borno few days ago, saying “it was politically masterminded by the state government”.
While responding to questions from Journalists after a closed door meeting with former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida in his uphill residence in Minna yesterday, Atiku described the attack as “very unfortunate”.
According to him “the Borno incident is most unfortunate. We signed peace accord and it is unfortunate that the whole thing was sponsored by the political leadership in the state.”
Speaking on the disagreement between the Party and the G-5 Governors, Atiku said “it’s a family quarrel which will be settled amicably and soon”.
“We have always engaged the five Governors and we will continue to engage them. It is a family quarrel and we believe that we will resolve it before the elections and you will see a very, very united and strong PDP that will face the elections.
He described his visit and his entourage to former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida as respect to a Father of the Nation and Democracy.
Accordingly, he said “It is customarily for us to come and pay our respect to IBB for his services to the country. They are the father of post war independence and they also nurse the current democratic dispensation in the country. We will continue to come and pay our respect to them and remind them of their contribution to this country.”
The PDP Presidential Candidate arrived Minna, Niger state capital to meet with Party stalwarts ahead of the 2023 general elections.
He arrived Minna in a long convoy and drove straight to the Uphill residence of former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida.
He arrived Babangida’s residence and went straight into a closed door meeting with his entourage.
Those in the entourage include his Vice, Ifeanyi Okowa, DG Campaign of the Party and Governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal, former Defence Minister and National Security Adviser, General Aliyu Gusau, former Governor of Adamawa, Boni Haruna, immediate past Niger state Governor, Aliyu Babangida Aliyu, Senator Dino Melaye, Emeka Ihedioha, former Osun state Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Taraba state Governor, Dairu Ishaku, Niger state PDP Chairman, Barrister Tanko Beji among other Party stalwarts.
