Croatia Beat Brazil On Penalties To Reach World Cup Semi-Finals

Dominik Livakovic saved Rodrygo’s first penalty and Marquinhos hit the post to give Croatia a 4-2 shootout win over Brazil on Friday after their World Cup quarter-final finished level at 1-1. After a scoreless 90 minutes Brazil took a 1-0 lead with a bit of extra time solo magic from Neymar but gritty Croatia refused to quit, Bruno Petkovic equalising in the 117th minute to send the contest to penalties. Croatia now await the winner of Argentina and the Netherlands who clash later on Friday.

Music star D’banj has been released by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) two days after detention. The singer’s lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi confirmed that he was released on Friday afternoon but the ICPC might summon him later. Mr Olajengbesi noted that D’banj was released on self-recognition but did not state whether the ICPC granted the singer administrative bail. INEC Plans Voting Centres For Two Million IDPs

Ahead of the 2023 elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission is planning to set up voting centres for over two million Internally Displaced Persons across the country. The voting centres will be sighted in IDP camps. Findings from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development indicate that many of the IDPs are living in Borno, Zamfara, Benue, Nasarawa and 23 other states.
