Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu declared Tuesday, January 24, 2023, a work-free day for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, in the state ahead of the upcoming general elections. Power authorities in Johannesburg this week cut off the power supply to the Nigerian Consulate in South Africa The city power visited multiple premises around joburg’s region E, disconnecting electricity to recoup more than R360 million it is owed by individuals and organizations in the region. The city power authority said the Nigerian Consulate owed more than R400 000 ($23 300). The first Nigerian Professor of Medicine, Theophilus Oladipo Ogunlesi, has died at 99. Ogunlesi, an Emeritus Professor who hailed from the Sagamu area of Ogun State, died on Thursday. He made history in 1965 as Nigeria’s first Professor of Medicine. Ogunlesi started on the path of a medical doctor at Yaba College of Medicine in 1947 and advanced his career at the University of London, 1953, where he qualified as a registered medical officer in England.
