How the ex-aide to former President Olusegun Obasanjo was announced Alaafin-elect less than 24 hours after his birthday

 

One year after the demise of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Oba in Council has announced Prince Lukman Adelodu Gbadegesin Agunloye as the new Kabiyesi elect and Alaafin for Oyo town

It was ten princes who came out from his Ladigbolu  family to fight for the position. His name was in number eight.

He had worked with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as Personal Assistant when he was the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Gbadegesin, who celebrated his birthday in April 25,  hails from the Gbadegesin family of the Agunloye Ruling House. He is a grandchild of Alaafin Gbadegesin Ladigbolu II, the predecessor of Alaafin Lamidi Adeyemi III.

The new Alaafin is among the contenders for the historical and highly venerated Yoruba traditional stool, which became vacant following the demise of Alaafin Adeyemi on April 22, 2022.

Meanwhile, Official statement is expected from the Oyo king makers and the state government soon.
