Abducted Nasarawa Ex-Deputy Gov, Gye-Wado, Regains Freedom

The former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State Professor Onje Gye-Wado has been released by his abductors after N4m ransom was paid. Gye-Wado was abducted last Thursday at his country home, Rinza, near Wamba, the headquarters of the Wamba local government area. It was gathered that a ransom of N70m was demanded by the abductors but Gye-Wado’s family negotiated from N2m to N3.5m before eventually settling for N4m. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a new date for the commencement of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME), which will now start on April 25, 2023, instead of April 29, 2023, as earlier scheduled.
