One Dies As Tai Solarin Varsity’s Students, Ijebu Community Clash

“How do we break news of Bayo’s death to his parents? He is in 300 level with few months to graduation. How do we carry his corpse to them now?”

 

 

A three hundred level student of the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) identified as Bayo is feared dead while houses were burnt in a deadly clash between the students and the Ijebu host community.

Platforms Africa reports that the university has been shut as the crisis degenerated.

 

A statement issued by the TASUED Registrar, Dapo Oke, confirmed the clash, adding that the University Management hereby announces the closing down of the university.

“How do we break news of Bayo’s death to his parents? He is in 300 level with few months to graduation. How do we carry his corpse to them now?” A student of the school who corroborated the news said.

Here below is the statement;

*PRESS RELEASE*

Following the recent clash between Students and members of the University Host Community in the early hours of today, particularly, the Iwameje Community which led to the eruption of violence, the University Management hereby announces the closing down of the University.

In the meantime, Parents and Guardians are hereby advised to recall their wards particularly those living in and around Iwameje back home immediately.

Efforts are being made with law enforcement agents to restore peace and order in the community affected.
