Lai Oso: We Lost A Mentor to Many Successful Public Relations Practitioners In Nigeria, By NIPR

The Ogun State Chapter, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has expressed sadness over the death of renowned Professor of Development Communication, Lai Oso, which reportedly occurred following a fatal auto crash on Saturday night, June 24, 2023.

In a statement signed by Oluwaseun Boye and Kunle Olayeni, the Chairman and Secretary, respectively, the Chapter described the painful passing of the professor as a devastating and terrible loss.

Prof. Lai Oso was a great mentor to many successful Public Relations practitioners across the country as well as other professionals in mass communication and its allied fields. His prolific exploits in the academia and indomitable contributions to the body of knowledge have impacted generations and would surely remain indelible.

While on his earthly sojourn, Prof. Lai Oso rendered invaluable and selfless service to humanity. He was always willing to help and offer his expertise in pursuit of worthy causes. With his sudden demise, a huge vacuum has been created and it would be very difficult to fill.

Our heartfelt condolences go to members of his family and we sincerely pray God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. We also extend commiseration to all those affected by the shocking exit of this erudite scholar.

May the soul of our dear Prof. Lai Oso rest in peace.
