A fresh gale of controversy at the wekeend blew across the Nigeria’s railway system with the country’s Police and the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) contradicting each other on the reported attempt to steal some train coaches in Borno, Northeast Nigeria.
Platforms Africa reports that pictures and videos of the coaches went viral on social media with TV stations like the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and News Central TV using the report in their major bulletins.
The Borno State Police Command, checks by Platforms Africa showed, announced on Saturday that it had prevented the theft of some train coaches owned by the Nigerian Railway Corporation.

However, the corporation has dismissed this claim, stating that none of its coaches was stolen.
Quoting official source from NRC, News Central TV, maintained that NRC, the supposed owner of the train coache, punctured the claims by the Police on the ussue, maintaining that none of its coaches was missing.

According to reports, police officers detained six suspected thieves who attempted to take some train coaches at the Maiduguri Railway Terminus after receiving a tip from local good Samaritans.
Reacting to the development, some Nigerians have declared to Platforms Africa that they suspected cover-up in the matter
In a recation, Ibrahim Kachala, a resident of Maiduguri, said that it was clear that both the Police and the NRC could not be saying the truth at the same time on this same issue.
“Which kind wahala be this sef,” he begins in Pidgin English.
“It is either the NRC is tellung a lie and Police is saying the truth, or the Police is telling a lie and the NRC saying hhe truth. Or the two of them are tellung lies. It just not possible that the two of them are saying the truth on this same issue,” he concluded.

Another Nigerian, Zara Onyinye, said on her Facebook page; “It is of Loss of values and many do not care about OUR country.
