Robbers Attack Married Man Who Lodge With ‘Side Chick,’ Shoot Three In Lagos Hotel

Some lodgers, including a married man who lodged with his ‘side chick,’ and workers of a hotel were injured in the early hours of Monday as daredevil armed robbers invaded the hotel in the Alagbado area of Lagos State.

Platforms Africa reports that three of the workers were shot by the armed robbers, who reportedly held all the workers and lodgers at the hotel hostage.

One of the lodgers, a married man, who left his wife and five children to Lodge with a girlfriend at the hotel, described the armed robbery incident as his worst nightmare since birth.

“Devil is real o, my brother. The thought of regrets and shame fluttering through my mind when I heard a gunshot in the hotel was indescribable. I and the girl that lodged with me were pinned down and tied. At the end, we were told three people were shot.

“I do not even know how to thank God. I felt it was the end, but He saved me. If I have died, how will my wife and five children receive the sad news? If injured, what would I tell my wife happened to me? I would like to testimony on Sunday, only that people will not be told the full gist,” he told Platforms Africa after his anonymity was guaranteed.

Meanwhile, the Lagos Police Command has confirmed the incident, noting that two members of a 9-man robbery gang that attacked the unnamed hotel have been arrested.

The arrested armed robbers and others, now at large, reportedly invaded Alagbado from Agbara in Ogun State.

The image maker in charge of the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the attack as well as the arrest of the armed robbers.

The police image maker stated that the DPO of Alagbado police station received a distress call about the attack on the hotel around 3 am on Monday.

A resident of the area, who pleaded anonymity, stated that the arrival of the policemen prevented the robbery operation from being a very bloody one.

The Lagos police image maker said, “The DPO immediately led the patrol team to the scene to engage the armed robbers.”

“Subsequently, two of the armed robbers were arrested, and the following items were recovered from them: four locally-made pistols, one Toyota Corolla Saloon car, four expended ammunition, two Nokia phones, one Itel phone, one Techno phone, one jackknife, six ATM cards, three wrist watches, three female handbags, and a sum of fifty-four thousand naira.”

The Lagos police spokesperson also stated that “the robbers, numbering about nine, had injured two of the hotel lodgers before the policemen arrived at the scene.”

According to the police, “preliminary investigations revealed that the gang of armed robbers was nine in number and came into the area from Agbara.”
