‘Here’s the reason for tightness in fuel supply and distribution witnessed in some parts of Lagos and the FCT;’ NNPCL gives update as black marketers return, smile to the banks
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has assured Nigerians of its moves to restore normalcy on fuel scarcity in Lagos and Abuja as a litre of the product now sells for N1,000 in Lagos and parts of Ogun State.
Platforms Africa reports that the NNPCL, which in a statement, confirmed knowledge of the crisis, gave reason for the situation.
Describing it as “tightness in fuel supply and distribution witnessed in some parts of Lagos and the FCT,” the company maintained that this came “as a result of a hitch in the discharge operations of a couple of vessels.”

Meanwhile, the situation went south on Monday in Lagos with black marketers having a free hand while many stations ran dry of petrol.
“They sell a litre for as much as N1000. The irony of the whole situation is that the black marketers here at Palmgroove Onipanu axis on Ikorodu road sell in front of filling stations that are under lock and keys for alleged lack of the product,” a car owner, Timothy Odedina, told Platforms Africa.
“I have to settle for black market when I have stayed for more than six hours in a queue,” he added.

Abuja is no difference as residents said they have been in the dire situation about one week before it started in Lagos.
‘The queues have been in Abuja for over one week before it appeared in Lagos,” Lekan Oladapo told Platforms Africa.
“We need answers from the NNPCL on why we are in this situation one year after the President announced removal of subsidy. Have they not assured us that removal of subsidy would end queues and scarcity?” He inquired.
The NNPCL however declared that it was working round the clock with all stakeholders to resolve the situation and restore normalcy in the operations.
