Veteran Nigerian musician, King Sunny Ade, known as KSA, has vowed to continue performing ‘Waiting for Me’, his 1989 duet with the late Onyeka Onwenu for the rest of his life.
KSA said this during the condolence visit of the management of Musical Society of Nigeria, MCSN, to the family of Onyeka Onweu at Ikoyi area of Lagos State.
The juju legend made the promise to keep Onweun’s memory alive till his death.
He said, “I will perform ‘Waiting for Me’ on her behalf throughout my life. I have done it several times in different countries, where I gave her the credit.
“When it comes to music that two people have to do together, she used to do more than I did. She would just tap me and say ‘Sunny, don’t worry, let’s take it this way, and it is always good.”

On his part, Orits Williki, popular reggae legend, also described the songstress as someone who believed in the cause of justice.
“She wasn’t somebody we can easily forget. It is sad that she did not reap much of what she fought for.
“Only a few years ago, she got a double Supreme Court judgment on intellectual property. But sad that we have lost her and we know that her legacy is still in our minds,” he said.
