Ballon d’Or: Lamine Yamal Wins 2024 Kopa Trophy

Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has been named the winner of the 2024 Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or awards in Paris on Monday night.

Yamal was the hot favourite for the award after playing a starring role for club and country ever since bursting onto the scene.

He beats Arda Gukler, Kobbie Mainoo, Savinho and Barcelona team-mate Pau Cubarsi to the top prize.

Yamal is the first player aged under the age of 18 to win the trophy given to the best Under-21 player in the world.

The 17-year-old helped Spain win Euro 2024 in the summer and currently has Barcelona top of the Liga table after a superb start to the season.

Yamal follows in the footsteps of team-mates Gavi and Pedri by winning the award, with Barcelona players have lifted the Kopa Trophy three times in the last four years.
