The Assistant Inspector General of Police in-charge of Zone 2 Command, AIG Adegoke Fayoade, yesterday, charged newly promoted Assistant Commissioners of Police, Chief Superintendent of Police, and Superintendents of Police, to shun disgraceful acts and refrain from extorting members of the public.
He reminded the officers that their promotion was a call to duty, urging them to work harder in ensuring that lives and properties of Nigerians within their jurisdictions were saved.
AIG Fayoade gave the charge at the decoration of 33 newly promoted officers drawn from the Lagos and Ogun Police Commands, held at the conference hall of the zonal command.
Describing the promotion of over 2, 000 policemen from the rank of SP to CSP as record-breaking, he appreciated the Inspector General of Police and the Police Service Commission for such consideration.

In his address, he said: “When we are giving promotions like these, it does not mean we should go to sleep; it is a call to duty. It is a call that you must work harder to do more for the country, in terms of securing the country.
“You must eschew any form of corruption in whatever way. Don’t forcefully extort anybody. You should do your job well, and you will be appreciated.
“You must also portray the image of the Force in a positive light. You must be able to relate to members of the public very well, show kindness to them because of your duty.”
