A Prophet with the Celestial Church of Christ, Eagle Parish, Idiroko, Ogun State, Yomi Adetula, has been shot and axed to death during a service on Sunday (today).
The killing, according to available information, was carried out before 10:30am by three men bearing a double barrel gun and axe.
After aiming the double barrel gun at Adetula, who fell down immediately, the three men followed it up by applying the axe on him to ensure he died.
It was gathered that the three men then fled towards the border area of Idiroko after carrying out the dastardly act.
A message was said to have been sent to the Idiroko Divisional Police Officer at about 10:30am, informing him of the incident at the CCC Eagle Parish along Old Garage Road, Odo Eran, Idiroko.
Police operatives were reported to have raced to the scene, where they found Adetula, 54, on the floor with blood stains all over his sultana, lying face up.
On inquiry, the police were told of the circumstances that led to his death.

He was reported to have been shot and then axed, obviously to ensure that he stood no chance of surviving the attack.
The corpse of the prophet was said to have been removed to the General Hospital, Ilaro for autopsy, while police investigation continued.
The spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command and a Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the killing of Adetula.
The Police Public Relations Officer said operatives are already on the trail of the fleeing assailants.
Odutola added: “Normalcy has been restored while possible clues will be revealed in the coming days as investigation has been launched into the very sad occurrence.”
The late Yomi Adetula was a witness listed to testify against IBD Dende in Court.
