‘Days To Child’s Wedding,’ FMC Abeokuta Senior Staff ‘Commits’ Suicide

Mr. Adeniyi Oluwaseun, the acting Head of the Audit Department at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, tragically ended his life on Sunday by reportedly jumping into a well.

The incident occurred in the Obantoko area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, shortly after he had finished his dinner.

It was revealed that Adeniyi’s child was due to marry in just a month’s time before the devastating event unfolded. His body was recovered from the well and has since been moved to a morgue.

While the reasons behind the tragic incident remain unclear, reports say Adeniyi had a history of mental health struggles, although the specific nature of his condition is unknown.

Segun Orisajo, the Head of Public Relations and Communication at FMC Abeokuta, confirmed the incident in a statement conveying the hospital’s deep sorrow.

Orisajo said, “It is true that he committed suicide. It was an unfortunate incident. The management feels saddened about this development.”

He described Adeniyi as a hardworking and loyal staff member, whose sudden death came as a shock to everyone at the hospital.

“The unfortunate incident caught the entire management off guard.

“It is a quiet and irreparable loss. The management extends its heartfelt condolences to the department, as well as to the immediate and extended family members of the deceased,” Orisajo added.
