The new moon of Shawwal 1446AH has been sighted in Nigeria.
Sultan of Sokoto and President General of Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, who announced this in a broadcast on Saturday evening, declared Sunday, March 30 as Eid-el-Fitri day.
Platforms Africa earlier reported that the crescent of Shawwal was earlier sighted in Saudi, withba time zone that is 2 hours ahead of Nigeria.

The Kingdom had subsequently also declared Sunday, March 30, as the first day of Shawwal and the day of Eid.
