‘9 Days To 90th Birthday;’ How Oyo Ex-Governor, Omololu Olunloyo, Died

Great Mathematician Gone,’ admirers penned tributes for Man whose family produces special brains and beings

 

Former Governor of Oyo State Omololu Olunloyo is dead.

Platforms Africa reports quoting a statement from the Olunloyo family that the late patriarch died just nine days to his 90th birthday.

He was born on the 14th of April, 1935.

The terse statement from the family state reads; «Omololu Olunloyo passed on to eternal glory at 1 40 am on the 6th of April 2025.We thank God for a life well spent.May the Lord Jesus rest his soul.”

Family sources added; “It is true, our old man is dead. Baba died of old age. He was briefly sick if old age related ailment before he breathed his last and we give all glory to God.

“His remains have been embalmed but burial arrangement will be announced in due course.”

Professor A. A. Agboola, an admirer of the former governor, wrote; “A great Mathematician is gone. Like the great family of Ayodele Awojobi, Olunloyo family is also very great.

“The junior brother VOS Olunloyo of blessed memory, an engineer and a great numerical analyst was our Professor at Unilag. May God uphold the family they left behind and give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Adieu Baba Mathematica.”

Going further, Agboola added; “He was very sound mathematically. He was a product of University College Ibadan. He also taught at University of Ibadan. He like Chike Obi tackled many centuries Mathematics Puzzles even though their solutions were not widely accepted. For instance, they proved Fermat’s last Theorem but their proofs were not generally acceptable.

“All the same, he was a giant in Mathematics.”
