‘I didn’t see the gold coming,’ Ojelabi, popularly known as Alagatosoji, opens up on winning the crown out of 33 contestants and in a category of three + what the organisers said.
Following a series of screening for the grand finale of the EMTV award, popular wedding compere, Dorcas Ojelabi, has emerged the winner of the Legend Entrepreneur of the Year category of the award.
EMTV World Entertainment, which started in 2019 with head office in Osogbo and sub offices in western part of Nigeria comprises of sound media personnel’s coming together to promote beauty and talent that the bigger media cannot capture due to the ever rising influx of participants.

Chairman of the screening committee, Mr. Martins Ogunkunbi, who announced Ojelabi as the winner, commended her unique style of Entrepreneurship through wedding.
‘A legend is not born overnight, it takes years of perseverance, tireless committment, and an unwavering spirit,” Ogunkunbi said, adding that a tribute is being “paid to those whose journey has inspired countless others of whom Alagatosoji is one.
“The honour is reserved for those whose impact transends time as a true legend not only achieve greatness but also inspires generations to dream bigger, push harder, and believe more deeply,” he noted.
He called Mrs.Grace Salako, the wife of EMTV Chief Executive Officer, Emmanuel Salako, who presented the award to Alagatosoji.
EMTV had kicked off with a fashion show, later added beauty pageant, skill acquisition programmes, and finally added entrepreneurs to the list.
The colourful event, which was held on Sunday, the 27th of April, at the NUJ Event hall, beside technical college, Osogbo lasted for five hours and was graced by notable individuals and dignitaries from different walks of life.
There was a loud ovation from the house following Alagatosoji announcement as the most enterprising Entrepreneur of the year, as many of her supporters echoed “YES O! For them the choice of Alagatosoji among many ‘wedding compere’ was perfect.
The Master of ceremony described her as ‘Alaga ti o common’, innovative, dynamic, and jovial.
Expressing her joy, Alagatosoji who was awarded in recognition of her dynamism in the ‘Alaga’ industry, said she returns all the glory to God, her supportive husband (Sunday Ojelabi) , her siblings and of course her very understanding boss, HRM, Oba Moses Oluwafemi Agunsoye, the Elegboro of Ijebu Jesa who has never stopped her from having a side venture.
Ojelabi mentioned that she didn’t see the gold award coming, especially after winning among 33 contestants and in a category of three.
She encouraged everyone to pursue whatever they believed in and do it passionately, adding that hard work and consistency has brought her this far and she would never forget this was achievable because God’s mercies never failed her.”
