Yabatech Bags ICAN Award For Producing Most Chartered Accountants

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria has conferred its Corporate Merit Award on Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) for being the most producer of certified accountants and chartered accountants in Nigeria.

According to the Head, Public Relations Unit of Yabatech, Mr Adekunle Adams in a statement, ICAN gave the award at its 2025 Award and Dinner Night at Lekki, Lagos State, on Saturday.

According to the statement, ICAN’s first professional examination was conducted at Yabatech.

Adams added that more often, the college’s products in accounting qualified as chartered accountants.

It said that the Rector of Yabatech, Dr Ibraheem Abdul, who received the award from the ICAN President, Mr Davidson Alaribe, expressed appreciation to the institute for the recognition.

It quoted Abdul as saying that the institution was humbled by the award, promising that it would do more in contributing toward the development of the accounting profession.

” I appreciate the body for organising this event to celebrate members, associates and organisations who have distinguished themselves in the accounting profession,” it quoted Abdul as saying.

It also quoted Alaribe, the 60th President of ICAN and alumnus of Yabatech, as saying that the award was in recognition of Yabatech’s huge contributions to the accounting profession.

According to the statement, Alaribe also said that the award was to spur Yabatech to do more.

The statement noted that the event was witnessed by the first indigenous Rector of Yabatech and first Registrar/ Chief Executive Officer of ICAN, Oba George Majekodunmi Okufi, the Alara of Ilara.

Other award recipients, according to the statement, include Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna State, Babcock University’s President and Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ademola Tayo.
