Lagos Journalist Nurudeen Adegbenro, who was arrested and detained by officers from Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Alagbon on Wednesday morning, has been released.
Adegbenro, who confirmed his release in a phone chat with Platforms Africa, maintained that he was let off the hook at exactly 6:35 pm. on Wednesday.
His wife, Aminat, had earlier said that the journalist was whisked away from his residence in Agege Lagos around 6:14 a.m., same day.
Fielding question from Platforms Africa in a telephone chat, Adegbenro said that the case had been settled.
“I was released at 6:35 pm. after the police boss moderated a meeting between me and the petitioner. We have also been asked to come back on Saturday,” he said.

Saying that he was overwhelmed by the genuine love and concerns family, fŕiends and colleagues expressed since the news published by Platforms Africa went viral, Adegbenro expressed gratitude to “everyone who stood firm for me.”
The list, he said, is long, “and I will do a proper appreciation to everyone when I settle down, but I must appreciate you (Platforms Africa) for promoting the truth. I thank family, friends, and colleagues who have shown genuine support and concerns since the time the news was broken.
“We have settled the matter, and there is no cause for alarm.”
