The United States-based Emmanuel University has promoted Nigeria’s top researcher and renowned facilitator of soft-skill education, Stella Ahunanya, Ph.D., to the rank of Professor.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Monday Akpan, who declared Ahunanya a Professor of educational management and teaching at the professorial tenure ceremony of the university, reiterated that the new Professor has been duly certified by the institution after been found worthy in the areas of research, services, seminar, and workshop.
“She has been on this journey for over a decade, and she has been certified to have ticked all the boxes in research, services, seminar, and workshop,” Professor Akpan said at a well-attended hybrid event.
In her remark, Professor Ahunanya, revealed how her humanitarian service on teaching at the Kirikiri maximum prison in Lagos and elsewhere have yielded positive results with two of the over 200 inmates trained now pursuing their Ph.D programme.
“I thank the Almighty Jehovah for making my age-long dream of becoming a professor a reality. I thank the management of Emmanuel University, a family that pays attention to the progress of all members.
“The age-long effort took centre stage at Lagos study centre located at the maximum prison, Kirikiri where over 2,000 inmates participated across five prisons in Lagos and as of today, two of the students are pursuing their Ph.Ds. But this is just the beginning.
“As I received the professorial mantle today, I dedicated myself to teaching. May the journey ahead be better than the one behind,” she declared.
Participants at the event, including the Team Lead of Platforms Africa, Adeola Yusuf, Ph.D., poured eulogies on Ahunanya on what they described as her well-deserved professorial seat.
