The Nigeria Government has officially set the minimum entry age for admission into the country’s tertiary institutions at 16 years.

Speaking at the opening of the ongoing Policy Meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Abuja on Tuesday, Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, emphasized that the age requirement is non-negotiable.

He also warned that any admissions conducted outside the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) would be considered illegal, with offenders facing prosecution.

Dr. Alausa further stated that heads of institutions involved in admission fraud will be held accountable and prosecuted accordingly.
