Lagos State University (LASU) has appointed Dr. Noeem Taiwo Thanny as the Acting Head of the Department of Public Relations and Advertising, of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies.
The appointment, effective from July 5, 2025, to July 4, 2027, was announced in a letter signed by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello.
According to the letter, Dr. Thanny’s responsibilities will include day-to-day administration, curriculum development, staff supervision, and advising on faculty matters.
The Vice Chancellor expressed confidence in Dr. Thanny’s ability to discharge his new duties creditably.
With years of dedication to the Department of Public Relations and Advertising, Dr. Thanny was ready to take on the challenges of leading the department.
Under his leadership, the department is expected to thrive with innovative programs and a team of dedicated staff.

Dr. Thanny plans to meet with faculty members to discuss their strengths and weaknesses and assign responsibilities that play to their skills. He will also work closely with the Dean to ensure the department’s programs align with the faculty’s vision.
The appointment is seen as a mark of honor and a testament to Dr. Thanny’s dedication to the university, even as tenure is expected to bring new innovations and growth to the department while Dr. Thanny is eager to shape the future of the department over the next two years.

Noeem Taiwo Thanny, Ph.D: Seven Quick Facts About PRAD Scholar, Frontliner
1. Until this elevation, Dr. Noeem Taiwo Thanny is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Public Relations and Advertising, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Lagos State University where he teaches Public Relations, Development Communication, Strategic Communication, Behavioural Change Communication and Communication Campaign Planning.
2. He was a 2017 grantee of the Ford Foundation for training in Social Media Use in Public Relations and Communication organized by the International School of Communication ISOC, London.
3. Noeem also belongs to Nigeria’s two foremost associations of communication scholars and professionals- the African Council for Communication Education (ACCE) and the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals in Nigeria (ACSPN).
4. He has also been a consultant to several government agencies and other non-government organisations (NGOs). These include: Facilitation of UNICEF Network of Mass Communication Teachers / Institutions; Mainstreaming Child Rights Reporting Curriculum, November 2019;Facilitation of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency NIMASA 3 Day Training on Effective Public Relations and Protocol Management in Corporate Governance, December 2018.
5. He has attended several notable resources programme such as the Lagos State Ministry of Health/Lagos State Ministry of Information/UNICEF Joint Material Development Retreat for Maternal and Child Health in April 2015.
6. Major notable responsibilities and duties earlier undertaken for the University include as member of the University Curriculum Committee, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Lagos State University from March,2023 till date and the Coordinator PhD and DCS , Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Lagos State University from November 2023 till date.
7. Nooem Taiwo Thanny holds a doctorate in Applied Communication from the Department of Communication and Language Arts, University of Ibadan, a UNESCO Centre of Future Reference.
