An Air Peace flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt skidded off the runway upon landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Sunday morning.

The airline confirmed the incident in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, stating that Flight P47190 experienced a “runway excursion” after landing safely.

According to the statement, the aircraft veered slightly off the runway but sustained no damage. All passengers disembarked safely and without injuries.

Air Peace reassured the public of its strong commitment to operational safety, noting, “We reassure the flying public of our unflinching commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety in all our operations.”

This is the second runway-related incident involving the airline in recent months.

On May 11, an Air Peace aircraft was grounded at Asaba International Airport after colliding with a large antelope while taxiing.

The impact killed the animal and forced the aircraft out of service, disrupting scheduled flights.

Following that incident, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Michael Achimugu, clarified on his official X handle that while such wildlife encounters are beyond airline control, operators are still responsible for passenger welfare.
