‘Dem Say My Mama Na Witch,’ Man Hacks Mother to Death

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Jibrin Ado, for allegedly killing his mother on the suspicion that she was involved in witchcraft.

The incident occurred on Tuesday in Gerawa village, where Ado and four accomplices—identified as Musa Kwalle, Dan Abba, Sule Musa, and one Arrow—allegedly stormed the home of his father, Adamu Saleh, and attacked his 50-year-old mother, Magajiya Ado.

According to reports shared on Thursday by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the suspects accused the woman of witchcraft and beat her with heavy sticks until she lost consciousness.

She was rushed to General Hospital in Ringim, where she later died while receiving treatment.

Her body has since been released to the family for burial.

While Ado has been arrested, the other suspects remain at large. Police say efforts are ongoing to apprehend them.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in Jigawa, Lawan Shiisu, said he was making inquiries into the case and would provide details later.
