Results so far show the Vice President, who was cheered up while making his speech last night, is behind Rotimi Amaechi as Bola Tinubu coasts home to victory
Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, has left the Eagle Square venue of the ongoing convention to select the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Platforms Africa reports that he left the venue given the direction the voting so far has gone with the results showing that National Leader of the party, Ahmed Bola Tinubu is coasting home to victory.
It is obvious from the result so far that the dream of Osinbajo, who was hailed spontaneously by a crowd at the venue, when he made his speech on Tuesday night, would not be making it back to Aso Rock, the Nigerian seat of power, as a replacement for President Muhammadu Buhari.

Before the counting began showing Tinubu galloping votes, Osinbajo had been touted as the main challenger to Tinubu, whom he served as Attorney General when the APC boss, was Governor of Lagos State, for the party ticket.
But, from the look of things, it appears that even Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation, might even be ahead of him the contention, with Tinubu, leading with a wide margin.
Tinubu, apart from nominating him into his cabinet, was also said to have nominated him as the Vice President to President Muhammadu Buhari following the victory of APC in 2015.
Things got tougher for Osinbajo when his former boss was endorsed by two former governors, a sitting governor, a former Speaker and the youngest among the 23 aspirants.
According to PM News, It is not clear whether the Vice President departed Eagles Square early in anticipation of loss of the primary election or he just went to refresh himself with the possibility that he would return before the commencement of sorting of ballots and announcement of the result of the primary election.
