Millions of electricity consumers in Nigeria have declared that they were tired of political megawatts that have, in the past, been generated by politicians, tasking the presidential candidates of all the major political parties to desist from it.
Rising under the auspices of the Nigeria Consumer Protection Network, the consumers specifically mentioned the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; candidate of the NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso; and the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.

President of the Nigeria Consumer Protection Network, Kunle Kola OLUBIYO, who said this in a statement sent to Platforms Africa, maintained that Nigerian politicians are specialised in generating, transmitting and distributing political megawatts of electricity on the Pages of Newspapers and social Media.
“I will increase Power Generation from
5, 000 Megawatt – 30, 000. Megawatt. How do.you intend to do that? Please let us know ?
“Nigeria Presently has National Power Ready to Pick. Grid Sourced Power Generation Capacity of 7,500 Megawatt. But only An average of 3,600 Megawatt get to the End Users.
“We also have 14,500 Megawatts Installed Generation Capacity that Energy Qoutum could rap up.
“There are Available Power on Grid that is usually rejected by the 11 Electricity Distribution Companies
And Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
“Why is it that since December, 2021,
Power Supply situation in Nigeria has gone beyond compression and most embarrassingly unpleasant.
“What are the issues that have brought us to this mess inspite available Energy?
“Why do we always have about
4,000 Megawatt of Stranded Electricity,
We wheel or Distribute an Average of
3, 500 Megawatt on Daily Basis.
And on Daily Basis, we usually have about
4, 000 Megawatts of wasted Energy ,, Stranded Electricity on Grid .
“It is like being in the middle of a Sea , a big River or Ocean and been thirsty;” Olubiyo said.
He continued; “Deficits of Supply in the face of a very very high Energy Load Demand.
“The Presidential Candidates should speak straights to the fundamentals issues and tell Nigerians how they will address the roots causes of Energy Crises in Nigeria.
“And stop making Bogus Promises and Claims as per Electricity Sector.
“We are presently in a Big Shit or
Big mess. There are lots of works to be done.
“This; we are willing to partner with likes minds to move the Nation forward.”
