APC Presidential candidate submits name of Ibrahim Masari, a kinsman to President Buhari and Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, as his running mate to INEC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, has submitted the name of Alhaji Kabir Ibrahim Masari, a Muslim from the north, as his running mate.

Platforms Africa gathered that the APC candidate submitted the name to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday as a place holder to beat the official deadline given to parties by the electoral umpire.

Ibrahim Masari is reported to be a kinsman to the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari. Incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari is also from Kastina.

The submission of Masari’s name confirmed speculations that the APC would field a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the elections coming up next year.

Meet Ibrahim Masari

Alhaji Kabir Ibrahim Masari has been trending on social media as the running mate of the APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu since morning.

The APC has submitted the name of Tinubu and his running mate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) since Wednesday, but the party is still shielding the Vice Presidential candidate’s name.

Sources in Tinubu’s camp have revealed that Masari’s name was submitted as Tinubu’s running mate.

As things are, Masari is a Muslim and that means that Tinubu will be vying for the presidency on Muslim-Muslim ticket.

But sources said Masari’s name was submitted to INEC as a space holder to beat the deadline set by the commission, while the party will look for his replacement later.

This informed the reason his name was not disclosed publicly.
