Nigerian Prof, Uju Anya, Causes Confusion Over Comment On Queen Elizabeth

Details of the post that irked people like Jeff Benzos, Sam Amadi, “excited” others, and above all, set twitter on fire

A Pennsylvania-based Nigerian professor, Uju Anya, on Thursday, traded words with Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos over Queen Elizabeth II.

Uju made some scathing and unbecoming remarks about the British monarch after news broke of her In a now deleted tweet, she wrote; ”I heard the chief monarch of a thieving molesting genocidal empire is finally dying. May her pain be excruciating.”

Jeff Bezos however knocked the Nigerian Prof, Uju Anya over the negative comment on Queen Elizabeth.

Benzos , who came across her tweet and thought it was distasteful, made reference to her being a lecturer that is supposed to make the world a better place.

He quoted her tweet and wrote; ‘This is someone supposedly working to make the world better? I don’t think so. Wow.”

A Nigeria-based public affairs analyst, Sam Amadi, Ph.D, also found the post distasteful.

In an update on his Facebook page, Amadi wrote; “Queen v. Uju Anya. A specter is circling the world, a specter of activism without knowledge. Western universities are no longer centers of research and scholarship. They are now centers of woolly wokism, contradictory radicalism, and hallow intersectionality.

“People are not increasing knowledge; they are going about breaking things.”

Those Who stand with Uju

However, a Nigerian, Pius Okaneme wrote; “We have to grant that each person has their experience in terms of their perceived or direct relationship to the role of the Queen. If the person feels that it was bitter, he or she is entitled to express it.”

Okaneme’s view was corroborated by Damian Anderson who wrote; “That’s is how a woman can react.

For the fact that the civil war happened under her watch is an indicted.

Uju Anya is being emotional about it.

Though it was more of the British politicians that should taken bold step against the genocide.

In her capacity as a constitutional monarchy, more, wouldn’t have been expected of her.

“However, she could have contributed in reducing the genocide with her royal powers.”

For Osaloa Zikora, “We are collectively responsible for the evils of colonialism including slavery which Prof. Uju harped. The slaves were sold by their kith and kin, so as Uju points at the colonial masters with one finger, four point back at her.”

Isiah Madu Ugo replied; “Oseloka Zikora this may not be perfectly true ‘The slaves were sold by their kith and kin’ I mean, these slave masters came with superior weapons and attacked well organized communities killing and enslaving people and establishing their own government everywhere in Africa, or how do you think that the Africans with their crude weapon can resist them? Though they also, enticed our leaders to help them get slaves. We cannot completely exonerate them from the act of trans-Atlantic slave trade.”
