The wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Oluremi Tinubu, has lost one of her in-laws, Dr. Kolapo Akande, who passed on at the age of 72.
Akande was the husband of Lola, the sister to Oluremi, and the current Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, and Co-Operatives.
As gathered, death of the commissioner’s husband came barely 24 hours after a Lagos lawmaker, Olayiwola Olawale, popularly called Omititi, was laid to rest amid tears from family members and supporters from Mushin Constituency 02, following arrival of his body from Jos, Plateau state, where he had joined President Muhammadu Buhari to flag off the party’s presidential campaign rally.
The death of the commissioner’s husband, according to civil servants on Thursday, partially halted activities within the ministry with some of the staff leaving their offices to visit the family so as to commiserate with them.
One of the staff that joined the team of mourners, who visited the commissioner, revealed that immediately after the news of her husband’s death became public, Akande’s supporters particularly members of the APC trooped to the family’s house to confirm if the news was true.
The death of the septuagenarian was confirmed by the bereaved wife in a short telephone interview with newsmen in the state.
The couple, who were already perfecting activities to mark the 64th birthday of the commissioner in January, was blessed with three children, two daughters, and a son, who was named after the father, Kolapo Akande (Junior).
