2.9 Million Lightening Strikes Expected In Nigeria In May

Osun, Rivers, Nasarawa, Abuja, others: Here is the full list of 15 states at highest risk

 

About 2.9 million lightning strikes are expected to follow the rains in Nigeria in May.

Platforms Africa reports that the Nigeria Lightning Safety and Research Center (NLSRC), which sounded a note of caution to Nigerians to be wary of their movement and activities in the rain, as well as protect their electronic gadgets.

The report highlighted some states that are likely to have intense lightening.

“Be prepared for lightning strikes across Nigeria. South- South, South-East, North-Central and North-East states will experience more intense lightning strikes,” the report obtained by Platforms Africa read.

“If you hear thunder, go indoors!”, It stated.

Some of the states that will be mostly affected are Delta, Rivers, Cross River, Enugu and Taraba.

Others are; Nasarawa, Abuja, Kogi, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Nasarawa,Edo, Osun, and Bayelsa.

Thunderstorms are expected to spread across Nigeria throughout May. The RED states are at higher risk of severe lightning strikes.
