A 21 year old Nigeria woman, Emila Sunday from Akwa Ibom State, arrested by policemen in Anambra state for trying to sell her three months baby boy for about N150,000 ($375 based on N400 per dollar) has reportedly told the Police real reason she took the dastardly action.
The Police spokesman, SP Haruna Mohammed, who stated this, noted that the suspect who was arrested while attempting to sell her three months old baby boy, claimed that she wanted to sell the boy due to hardship.
She was arrested in Ire-village Ojoto, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra state.
The young lady, it was gathered, intended to sell the baby boy to fend for herself due to current economic hardship she is facing.
Confirming the incident, Anambra state police command Spokesman, SP Haruna Mohammed, said that following an intelligent report on the 24/11/2020 at about 6:pm, Police operatives attached to Ojoto Division in Anambra State arrested one Emila Sunday who claimed to be 21years old from Akwa Ibom State with a three months old baby boy at Ire-village Ojoto.
According to Mohammed, Police preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was attempting to sell her three months old baby boy which the suspect claimed was due to hardship.
The command spokesman also disclosed that the baby has been rescued from her mother, Emily Sunday and that he is good health , while investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the matter.
