Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University (LASU) has disclosed that a total of 192 students will graduate with first class during its 28th Convocation Ceremony for the 2023/2024 academic session.
She disclosed this in a press conference on Thursday to herald the 28th Convocation ceremony.
The VC noted that 8,711 students will be graduating with first degree programmes from the university with 192 first class honours and 17 with unclassified (MBSS/BDS) Degrees, 3076 to graduate with second class upper division, 4397 with second class lower division, 990 with third class and 39 with a pass.

Nwosu Isioma Sybil of the department of Biochemistry graduated with a CGPA of 4.93 (First Class Honours), making him the overall best graduating student for the 2023/2024 academic session.
2,235 postgraduate students will be graduating with 302 postgraduate Diploma, 1,132 Academic Masters degrees, 639 Professional Masters degrees, 125 Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degrees and 37 Professional doctoral Degrees.
The university will also confer Honorary Doctorate degrees on two eminent Nigerians which are; Brigadier General Buba Marwa Rtd, Chairman of National Drug and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and Olufemi Olusegun Pedro, Former deputy governor of Lagos State, for their invaluable contribution to the development of the University and the Nation at large.
The Convocation Lecture will titled: Patriots, Citizenship and National Ownership, The imperative of Collective Responsibility for Nigeria’s future, which will be delivered by Dr. Olatunji Alausa, Minister of Education while Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), will serve as the chairman of the occasion.
The Convocation event commenced with the LASU press conference and Convocation Staff Sports competition on Thursday, 3rd of April.
On Friday, 4th of April, there will be a special Jumat Service at the University Central Mosque at 1.00pm
On Sunday 6th of April, a special Thanksgiving service will be held at the University chapel of light at 10.00 am.
On Monday, the 7th of April, the Convocation event will officially commence with coconut breaking and cultural festival at the Badagry gate by 9.00 am.
on Tuesday 8th of April will be the Convocation Lecture.
On Wednesday, 9th will be the Ceremony of Diplomas, First Degree, and Postgraduate Diplomas and Master’s Degree will be conferred upon deserving graduands at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, Ojo at 10.am.
On Thursday 10th of April will be the grand final of the ceremony, Award of Doctorate Degress (PhD) and conferment of distinguished professorship and honorary Doctorate degrees will take place at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, Main Campus, Ojo at 10.am.
